The fact that anyone reads this blog always comes as a surprise to me, I originally started doing this because I wanted to keep some kind of journal but my handwriting is awful and I wanted to be able to catalogue it digitally in case I ever wanted to recall any of my past thoughts.
Years later I seem to have acquired a small following of family, friends and like minded individuals. I sometimes wish I had a four or five digit number in the followers field but for the meantime I am happy to keep this site local and ‘artisan’.
I am able to see who reads this site from using Google Analytics to track where and where my visitors are from. The majority come from the links on my personal Facebook wall so they must be friends and family, and they mostly come from Coventry and New York (meaning that they are close family). I am sure that the biggest two readers of this blog are both mine and Mrs V’s mothers, keeping an eye on what their progeny are up to.
So hello to both Mums/Moms.
I also know that Mrs V reads this site, but she cheats and uses the Facebook app so robs me of my views. Sometimes I do have to prompt her to read what I wrote, especially if it relates to her.
Other than those few I’m not sure how many people I know who actually read this blog. I am sure that they have enough of my endless wittering without taking time to read a few hundred words on a random subject.
Yet in the past there have been times I’ve wanted particular people to see what I had typed. It could be ‘The Nobber’ or ‘The Princess’ (two of the people who inspired my original angry outbursts) but I managed to write in such an oblique way that two egotists would never know it was them. Even if they did assume that they were the targets of my ire I would still invoke the ‘Carly Simon Defence’
I am just glad that I get a smattering of likes each time I post, as long as each post has just one singular view I feel like it was worth it.
One reply on “Hello is it me you’re looking for?”
