I just want to go away, not in the sleeping with the fishes sense but just want a nice relaxing holiday. Away from offices, away from OFSTED inspection, away from the British weather, away from the sofa, away from this cold I’ve had all winter. I just want to be away.
All I’m asking for is a week somewhere with a beach, little more than a few restaurants along the sea front and a pool bar that can serve me the occasional beer. Thankfully I’m the kind of person that likes to organise a completely unorganised trip.
I like to travel in a combination of the simplicity and comfort, if I could travel business all the time of course I would but I can’t so I don’t want even the slightest hint of how good it can be. It’s like eating “New York” bagels from the store after you’ve had real New York bagels, yeah the store bagels may be good but when you’ve had better it’s going to feel like a retrograde step.
Plus if I have a budget to go on holiday with I would rather spend the money on the place I’m staying than on the few hours it will take to get me there.
This is why I will spend hours, even days, searching for the best price I can. This is a trait I have from Ma G, I will watch and wait on prices until they reach a point that means I’m happy to book. Dates will shift, departure airports may change, even the destination isn’t fixed. The only factor that doesn’t change is the price.
It always comes down to price.
This is the reason we are unable to go on the beach holiday this year, and part of my frustration. There is nowhere we can go for a budget of nothing.
This is why I want to get away, get away from fiscal responsibility.
