One of the complaints about modern TV and film is that characters are needlessly sexed up. Just take a look at some people’s reactions to the modern My Little pony, you would think we now have stripper ponies whereas the 80’s version was much homelier.
Even though my childhood was during a time of big hair and a zero Photoshop there were still plenty of pop culture icons to have a crush on.
The interesting thing about this list will be that it is the first time I have ever mentioned them, so there may be an awkward conversation tonight with Mrs G (especially as she has noticed my fervent typing). So, as with all my lists, in no particular order:
My childhood crushes (Crushii?)
So she may be half fish but the top half was modelled on Alyssa Milano, and despite not knowing what a fork is or how to write her name on land (because she could sign a contract with a sea witch) she is still the hottest red head I know.
Another animal-human hybrid (which almost classifies as a fetish I guess), she could run fast and hit people with a stick. Two things that I look for in any lady, because I know to avoid them.
She may still be on the “Allowed if she became free list”, but she was one of the only lady posters I ever hung up in my bedroom. Also falls into the speedy-stick criteria I am looking for.
Interestingly she is not animal or speedy but instead was heir to a lot of gold. She also had access to a giant flying condor which I always wanted to have when I was a kid (not a toy version – an actual flying golden condor).
In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “First Crush.”
Who was your first childhood crush? What would you say to that person if you saw him/her again?
Thanks for suggesting this prompt, Bailey T.!
